Beaufort, SC

Oh the wonders of the low-country life!  Nestled in the southern coastal part of South Carolina, Beaufort is a small town with a great appeal of history. This tiny sea island boasts its charm on the waterfront.  With its much array of history, this town has played host to several movies over the years.

What to Do

Beaufort is a great way to spend the day shopping Downtown, or taking a Golf-Cart tour throughout town.  Reservations can be booked at the Visitor’s Center (located at 713 Craven St).   Many quaint, local shoppes line Bay Street, and there’s also a wide-array of local restaurants to choose from for lunch. If you’re in need of any afternoon treat, check out the Sweet Tea Bar; it boasts a unique treat in the midst of the summer heat!

Outside of shopping downtown, you can take a scenic walking tour throughout their historic district (the houses and views can be gorgeous). For the sports enthusiast, the Spanish Moss Trail leads from (just North of) Beaufort down to Old Port Royal.  Take advantage of the wide pathways by biking or running/walking.  Looking for something outside of Beaufort? Check out Hunting Island State Park for a nice hike in the Lowcountry, or for the history buffs there’s the option to pay a visit to Douglas Visitors’ Center, before visiting the rest of Parris Island (home to the USMC Boot Camp).

Where to Eat

Have dinner at Lady’s Island Dockside, just over the  bridge on your way to Hunting Island.  It’s a local favorite, so there can be a hefty wait!  A favorite restaurant of ours is Fishcamp on 11th Street, located in Port Royal, SC.
