Being as Charleston is one of the oldest cities in the nation, this historic city boasts charm throughout downtown. As much as I love this historic city, here are some of my favorite local items from Charleston to purchase while you’re visiting. Plus, they make great gifts.
Candles
There are a few options with this, and each Company is unique with its candles. Some can be found at the Charleston City Market, or in stand-alone store.
Charleston Candle Company
Charleston Candle Company can be found throughout Charleston, including its own store in upper downtown (check their website for hours of operation). This couple owned and ran business started out selling on Etsy and as its popularity rose, developed into the business we now know.
Rewined Candles
These handmade candles are unique due to the simple fact that wine bottles are collected and repurposed as their containers for their wine-scented candles. Can be found at the Charleston City Market.
Food & Beverage

Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit
Not only can you grab a quick breakfast (the biscuits are amazing!) at 2 locations, but you can find Callie’s make-at-home products in both its stores and at the Charleston City Market.
Charleston Coffee Exchange
Located in Charleston’s area of West Ashley, this local coffee shop is also a great gift idea, offering anywhere from 2 oz. bags, K-Cups, and bags of coffee.
Local Tea
Did you know that the only tea plantation in the US is located on Wadmalaw Island? Not only can you be able to tour the 127-acre farm and factory at the Charleston Tea Plantation, but you can purchase them at the Charleston City Market as well.
Lowcountry Olive Oil
What’s not to love about olive oil and vinegar? These are great for many usage in foods, or gifting. The main store is located on Meeting Street, with products located at the Charleston Visitors Center, and at the restaurant Mercantile & Mash.
Jewelry

Handmade on James Island, SC, these wonderful earrings are a perfect blend of 2 materials. With several different styles, each one is colorfully unique. If you’re looking for something more custom, please inquire with the Design Studio!
Bath Products

These sea-inspired products of the Old Whaling Company are not only based in Charleston but can be found at a dedicated store on upper King Street and in the Charleston City Market. Choose between their scents and 4 products of soap, bath bombs, lotion, and candles.
