The North Georgia wine region has been slowly growing, and not only are the nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, but each winery also has some amazing scenery.

A Girlfriend’s Getaway to the North Georgia Winery region promises a great blend of exquisite wines, and scenic vineyards, making for a memorable weekend getaway where an impressive selection of wineries awaits. Ensure you’re Girlfriend’s Getaway is filled with laughter, relaxation, and the exploration of discovering these gems in the wine region of North Georgia.

Favorite Wineries in North Georgia

While personal preferences vary, there are several wineries in North Georgia that have gotten popular for their wines, atmosphere, and scenic locations. Exploring different wineries allows you to discover the ones that best align with your tastes and what you’re looking for as far as atmosphere. Here’s my list of favorite wineries in North Georgia that we’ve been able to explore.

The Cottage Winery + Vineyard

5050 US 129, Cleveland, GA 30528

The Cottage Winery + Vineyard is a great winery to end your visit, whether it’s with a flight or a glass of wine. With breathtaking views and a large patio to sit and watch the sun set, it’s sure a great place to relax.

Frogtown Cellars

700 Ridge Point Drive, Dahlonega, GA 30533

Frogtown Cellars offered an impressive selection of both flights and glasses of wine and felt like we were attending a wedding reception. From the elegant touches inside to the gorgeous views from the outside patio, Frogtown Cellars is recognized for its expansive vineyards and variety of wines including reds, whites, and blends. They often host events as well, which explains the upscale environment inside.

Habersham Winery

7025 S Main Street, Helen, GA 30545

Being one of Georgia’s oldest and largest wineries, Habersham Winery is open daily for wine tastings, as well as having a shop filled with their wines and gifts. This well-established winery offers a charming setting for visitors and has played a significant role in the development of the Georgia wine industry. Our favorites were the Chardonel and WWWWW. Not only is this a popular destination for locals and tourist exploring Helen, but this original winery also expanded with a secondary location next.

Creekstone Winery

295 Hardman Farm Road, Sautee Nacoochee, GA 30571

This secondary winery of the Habersham Family is just a few minutes down the road of Helen and Habersham Winery. My favorite of Creekstone Winery is its Barrel-Aged Chambourcin (it’s Port Wine), while listening to its After-Hours Music Series (Fridays + Saturdays 18:00 – 21:00).

Kaya Winery + Vineyard

5400 Town Creek Road, Dahlonega, GA 30533

Kaya Winery + Vineyard was extremely fun! This is one of the largest vineyards in the Dahlonega area and has a lively atmosphere. Once entering, you’ll discover a warm and friendly environment at the inside bar and gift shop. Enjoy either a glass or a flight of their wine while admiring the breathtaking panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the wrap around patio + porch.

Montaluce Winery & Restaurant

501 Hightower Church Rd, Dahlonega, GA 30533

This vineyard is probably by far my favorite. Reflecting of a local version of an Tuscan-inspired setting, this Winery offers several other amenities [see website for more details]. Montaluce Winery + Restaurant offers a charming ambiance for tastings, along with delectable tastings while you capture Instagram-worthy moments.

I recommend starting your day off with this winery, as not only do they have a full-service restaurant on-site, Montaluce also offer Wine Hikes as you’re guided through their wineries and nature trails and finishing with a wine tasting, then finishing off with lunch at Trattoria di Montaluce. Our favorites are the Chardonnay and WWWWWW

Three Sisters Winery + Vineyard

439 Vineyard Way, Dahlonega, GA 30533

Dahlonega’s first family farm winery, this winery holds gorgeous views along with a small and intimate atmosphere. Three Sisters Vineyards is known for its friendly atmosphere and scenic location, often hosting events and live music.
